SIEMENS-PANA INFRASTRUCTURE PARTNERSHIP – Project Alignment and Take-Off Meeting

In what is poised to revolutionize the power infrastructure in Nigeria, the CEO of Siemens in Sub-Saharan Africa, Sabine Dall’omo, led a four-man delegation to Nigeria to meet with the PANA Infrastructure team led by Mr. Daere Akobo. The two-day working visit narrowed on hatching the implementation roadmap for the landmark agreement that was signed between Siemens Pty and PANA Infrastructure on 23rd May, 2024 in South Africa for the optimization and upgrade of the country’s power reticulation corridors.

Prior to the project takeoff meeting, the electric giant and her Nigerian partner, PANA Infrastructure were joined by the Deputy German Ambassador to Nigeria and Johannes Lehne, who is a Minister at the Embassy of Germany in Nigeria for a warm reception and dinner hosted by the Chairman of PANA Holdings.

On Tuesday 16th July 2024, the CEO of Siemens Pty Ltd in Sub- Saharan Africa Sabine Dall’Omo and Mr. Daere Akobo coordinated the discussions of a Think-Tank, comprising Vice President Legal & Compliance at PANA Holdings, Vice President for Siemens Sub-Saharan Africa, Business Development experts, engineers amongst others.

The ‘Think-Tank’ explored the go-to-market strategy for the Siemens-PANA Infrastructure partnership, an overview of the electricity market in Nigeria, challenges around the implementation of the ongoing Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) being undertaken in partnership with the FGN Power Co and the intervening viable opportunities in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry. Of note, there was a deep dive into the business and financing structure models for the PPI projects.

Contributions towards corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects were also discussed and given as well as extensive benefits to rural communities targeted at reducing carbon emissions. A replication of climate compliant micro-grid and off-grid energy solutions as developed by Siemens across rural communities in in South Africa will be developed in Nigeria to enable the dream of sustainable transition into suburban and industrial attractive communities.

Additionally, Mr. Akobo announced that PANA Infrastructure plans to build low voltage panels at the Centre of Excellence Facility in Port Harcourt, Nigeria and other software electricity metering systems for multi-purpose use.
